Despite being the most famous Spider-Woman of them all, Spider-Gwen is actually a new addition to the Spider-Man mythos! Created in 2015 as part of Dan Slott’s Spider-Verse comics event, the Gwen Stacy of Earth-65 has quickly taken over the fandom because of her iconic design and unique personality.

With the Spider-Verse film trilogy introducing her to mainstream audiences, Spider-Gwen is now a major character in film, TV, and video games too. Whether you know her as Spider-Woman, Ghost-Spider, or simply Spider-Gwen, dive into her comics for a closer look at this special version of Gwen Stacy!

Gwen Stacy: Spider-Gwen (2015-2018)

The Gwen Stacy of Earth-65 was introduced in Edge of Spider-Verse #2, as part of Dan Slott’s original Spider-Verse event. She was immediately a popular character, and quickly got multiple solo series from her creators Jason Latour and Robbi Rodriguez. Gwen Stacy: Ghost-Spider (2018-2023)

In the late 2010s, Gwen has become bigger than ever, thanks to the popularity of Hailee Steinfeld’s portrayal in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse!

Meanwhile in the comics, Gwen embraced her own name as “Ghost-Spider” and began splitting her time between Earth-65 and Earth-616 with a new creative team of Seanan McGuire, Takeshi Miyazawa, and Ig Guara. This era also introduced Gwenom and Tim Seeley’s Gwenverse!
