We’re excited to report that it looks like Knives Out cinematographer Steve Yedlin, ASC, is set to debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Not only that, but it appears that Yedlin is set to work on more than one Marvel Studios project.

Yedlin is undoubtedly one of the most incredible directors of photography in modern cinema today. The way he operates in applying the best of color science to create some of the most spectacular shots allows his work to speak for itself. He’s worked as the cinematographer in projects like Knives Out and the upcoming Glass Onion, A Knives Out Mystery, and Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

First up on the docket, Steve Yedlin’s MCU debut will kick off Phase 5 alongside Peyton Reed in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantummania. While earlier this year, the cinematographer for the film was revealed to be Bill Pope , Yedlin apparently worked on additional photography for Quantumania per his resume.

Additionally, Steve Yedlin will close out Phase 5 as the cinematographer for the upcoming Thunderbolts movie, directed by Jake Schreier. (via IMDB)

Journey into the Quantum Realm

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantummania already has the first trailer out, and visually speaking, it has the potential to be one of the more visually appealing projects in the MCU. Quantummania stars Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly as they return to continue their adventures as Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Alongside Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer, who play Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne, the family finds themselves exploring the Quantum Realm, interacting with strange new creatures, and embarking on an adventure that would push them beyond the limits of what they thought was possible. Jonathan Majors returns to the MCU but as Kang the Conqueror. Kathryn Newton also stars as Cassie Lang, taking over for Abby Ryder Fortson and Emma Fuhrmann.

The film, directed by Peyton Reed, is set to premiere on February 17, 2023.

Here come the Thunderbolts

While we are still a few years away from the project premiering on the big screen, the Thunderbolts is undoubtedly one of the most exciting projects this phase will have to offer. An intriguing group of returning characters makes up the ensemble for this project – David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Wyatt Russell as John Walker/U.S.Agent, Olga Kurylenko as Antonia Dreykov/Taskmaster & Florence Pugh reprising her role as Yelena Belova/Black Widow.

Plot details are currently scarce at the moment. Still, rumor has it that Contessa Allegra de Fontaine, at the helm of the CIA, is out seeking a war with Wakanda over Vibranium. Who’s to say she won’t call on a team of super-soldiers to do it?

Steve Yedlin joins the project as the film’s cinematographer, alongside director Jake Schreier. Yedlin makes an incredible addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and we cannot wait to see how his work turns out in these projects, hopefully with more projects to be announced.
