Bennet and Gregg Posts Spark More Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Return Speculation

Another day, another actor denying their involvement in a Marvel Studios project. For years, Marvel has shrouded their projects in as much secrecy as possible, though at times even they have fallen victim to internal leaks. Especially if you’re an actor who plays Spider-Man or Bruce Banner. As a result, many actors starring in a Marvel Studios project have learned that denying their involvement is better than getting a warning text from the head honcho Kevin Feige. So many times a denial from an actor or actress is more of a confirmation of their involvement than an actual confirmation. The latest denial comes from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. star Chloe Bennet about her involvement in Secret Invasion, a Marvel Studios show slated for Disney+.

In a video that is making its way around the internet, Bennet is addressing the screen in what appears to be a candid and nonofficial way about the rumor that she is in the show. It does not appear that she is addressing someone specific, though does seem to be in response to a very specific question. She stumbles through her denial with a lot of stammers, “uh’s” and “um’s”. As with everything that is not directly confirmed by Marvel Studios or Kevin Feige, take this will with a grain of salt. Her message is short and reads as follows

“Uh, I, um, I am in no way attached or involved even at all or a little bit in the uh Secret Invasion uh Marvel Thing. I honestly don’t even know really what it is.”

Real smooth there Chloe. This denial of involvement felt incredibly forced and unrehearsed from the actress. This explains the odd pauses and “ums”. However, it also doesn’t feel genuine at all, similar to the ways of Charlie Cox and Andrew Garfield denied their involvement in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Pairing these new “development” with the information I reported in my agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. speculation piece. Could the appearance of Daisy Johnson a.k.a. Quake in the Marvel Cinematic Multiverse be becoming more of a reality? Or is she just toying with us here with this rather awkward denial?

As a refresher, Bennet left The Powerpuff Girls series that was in development at the CW. While the show was initially passed during the pilot phase, it was to be reworked when she exited the project. Perhaps the powerful pull of Marvel Studios and the return for a role that loved so much was enough to drag Bennet away from The Powerpuff Girls? As well, it appears that Bennet’s ombré blonde hair has returned after being died red for The Powerpuff Girls. Her hair now resembles the style and color that she had during her filming of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The Marvel series ran for seven seasons, ending in August 2020. Many fans have been wishing for a return of at least some of the characters from AoS, though without any specific confirmation, we will all just have to wait and see.

As reported in my previously mentioned article, Elizabeth Henstridge had some interesting Instagram posts leading fans to speculate she could be involved in a Marvel project such as Secret Invasion filming in the UK. And she and Bennet aren’t the only ones with Instagram posts that are causing fans excitement. Clark Gregg, aka Agent Coulson, very recently posted this to his Instagram…

“Secret Job” indeed, Mr. Gregg. Considering that Secret Invasion is filming right now, and that show will most definitely involve shape-shifting Skrulls, it is especially interesting that Gregg is getting a face mold done, probably for some prosthetics of some kind for whatever he’s working on.

This is no guarantee that the actor is appearing in Secret Invasion or The Marvels (both filming in the UK), but I mean… Come on!! What do you think? Let us know in the comments or on social media!
